I am truly speechless. You have delved deep into the waves of my heartbeats; you listened, understood, and believed. I recently shared a quote by Jean Cocteau that a poet’s greatest need is to be believed, and listening to your discussion about my poem made me feel exactly that. I bow in gratitude!
Jozef, thank you for reading it so beautifully at the beginning - with such emotion - that it brought tears to my eyes. Sylvia, your voice and your incredible ability to see through my words, as if they were open windows into my mind and heart, have left me in awe and filled with gratitude.
Otilia!!! 💖 Your words have brought tears to my eyes!!!! I’m so glad that your emotion of being “scared”, as you’d previously said, was indeed something you needn’t have worried about. Jozef and I were so truly in love with your poem and it was such a tremendous gift, as I said in the podcast, for us to be able to dive into what you wrote and love/live in all you said. The need to be believed and heard is something not only writers strive for…but for those who do put ourselves out there, sharing our words —which are as close in relation to the deepest veins flowing to the heart of our soul—being heard, read, understood means so much.
Our mission is to nurture this recognition, this desire; it’s our goal to build a community where we highlight the topics we writers strive to address with passion.
I’m so glad you found we did your work justice. We were uncovering so much to discuss that this podcast could easily have been another hour long but we want to keep the length of each podcast reasonable so listeners do stick around to the end. At least to start with. 😉
Thanks again, so much, Otilia. Sending lots of love to you. ❤️🌞
Thank you for sending your work to us Otilia. You are a fantastic poet and intelligent woman. It was an honour to be able to connect with Sylvie over your work. Your poem was a character study of love itself and was such a great foundation to start this podcast journey on. Thank you for joining our tribe we are blessed to have you in the fold. One Love to you my friend.
Such a wonderful incredible moment! Otilia’s poems are stunning.
Poetry, to me, is the language I turn to when reality feels too clumsy for feeling. It’s the revolt of nuance against noise, the place where contradictions don’t cancel each other out but coexist with elegance. It doesn’t explain the world, it seduces it into revealing itself. Poetry is how I survive the unbearable beauty of things, how I smuggle depth into a culture allergic to stillness, how I make sense of longing without diluting it into resolution. It’s not a genre… it’s a pulse, a way of noticing, a refusal to speak in straight lines when the soul moves in spirals.
Thank you for listening to our podcast Tamara. Otilia's work is next level for sure. She is an amazing poet and artist. It is a great honour to have been blessed with your eyes and ears. You are such a great mind and a modern philosopher with wisdom, if I may say, that is ahead of it's time. But even then, your wisdom is timeless as you remind me of the sages of old. Plus, we had to include your comment as it was poetry in and of itself. One Love.
I agree with you Tamara! Poetry is it's own language, it's own art form and has the ability to be moulded into what ever the writer needs it to be like shaping a block of clay with loving hands, probing for answers hands, or hands releasing undefinable emotion.
We absolutely aim to make poetry more of a community felt and loved act. To bring a voice to those who maybe want to be seen but are cautious of being heard. We want to discuss the intimate topics that need to be heard in a world that is feeling a disconnect. And since we are poets we are passionate about making poetry a universal language for those known but also those perhaps more unknown.
Thank you for the beauty of your words and presence, Tamara!
King and Queen what a creation you have here. I bow before you. This was so authentic, so thoughtful and open. So so so many things the list could go on. My man Joziah, you read beautifully with such generosity, acting as a vessel for the poem's life to come through. Sylvie, as always, you are a catalyst for community and that shines here once more. You two a pretty cool people ya know, and you've made a pretty cool thing!
P.S thanks for the intro to another awesome poet. You can never know enough of them, and I look forward to discovering more through the four eyes (six*, soz joz :D) of Saccharum.
Thanks Harry! I always appreciate your support and you're right, I'm passionate about building community. I really want to help others shine and this felt like a really cool way to open the door to valuable conversations. There is a lot of talent out there just waiting to be discovered which brings me to your other point: I'm so happy that you have found an amazing new writer to follow/read. That means Jozef and I have been successful in our quest and in reaching our goals. For readers and writers. Really cool that you stuck around to listen to us! 🙏
I'm sharing the love of "poetry causes us to pause" with you both. Your discussion on the first stanza of Otilia's poem reminded me of how writing inspires writing and how reading and drawing inspiration from others are essential in the creative process.
If you can't tell already, I love poetry discussions. I can't wait to tune in and sit in on more episodes!
June this is really awesome to read! We ran with a gut feeling--and knew that if we felt these conversations through poetry were fun for us they'd be fun for others. I'm so glad we stepped out to try it! Your words reinforce that we are doing something valuable and we are so very thankful to have you here with us! If you ever have any suggestions we are happy to take ideas into consideration, too! We want to draw community in and closer. It's already feeling like we are building that community family! Thank you for your support! 🌞
Thank you Laura! It feels really good to spread the love--literally! And especially as it pertained to Otilia's writing. Jozef and I have so much appreciation and love for you joining us! 🌞❤️
Thank you for saying this. Stay tuned for more. We are podcasters now. Blue chew and magic spoon brand deal here we come!! One Love Emily, my dear friend!
That's a high compliment E.R.! I hope we can continue to impress and we are so happy that you are joining us in this new adventure! Lots of love to you! 💖🌞
great job! i love this. i don’t normally have the attention span to sit in front of my phone for 30 minutes, but you had me zoned into Otilia’s profound words. bravo, all around.
What a compliment Pen! This went so much better than I had imagined. I can barely form sentences half the time in my real life interactions with other humans. In all seriousness though, stay tuned for more. Sylvie and I aim to do this at least twice a month. One Love friend!
Wow! this is a tremendous compliment Pen! We really aimed to fall into the 20-30 minute range and we definitely did push that limit coming in closer to the 30 min mark...but we went deep into Otilia's poem because we felt it was important--and the fact that you were able to stick it out with us, feeling drawn in by Otilia's words, means we managed to do something right! I'm thrilled about that. Your feedback is really valuable. I hope you are able to catch future episodes! Deep thanks for being here with us on this one!
Jaap!! Thank you! This is sooo rewarding to read. Sending a big hug your way! Can't thank you enough for joining us and leaving the comment to know you enjoyed it! 🙏🌞
Thank you my dear wildflower!! We are making those steps we've been planning to do and it feels really great. I'm so happy you're here with us. You are definitely a part of this community with us and it feels so wonderful to know you are enjoying what we are doing so far. Don't hesitate to send us some of your work, too! ❤️
Sam! So great that you tuned in! I'm finding myself standing in such a place of gratitude as I go through each of these comments and see who joined us! We'd love to feature any of your work if you feel inclined to allow us to do so! 🙏
Thank you Elena! I'm glad it was fun! We were a little nervous but we did it! Fun is definitely something that feels good to hear. We really appreciate you tuning in and always being so supportive! 💖
I'm glad you agreed with how we felt about Otilia's poem. It really was the perfect poem to launch with because it is a message Jozef and I align deeply with. It's all been quite serendipitous. We all very much appreciate you joining us and hope to keep having you along with us as we continue this adventure! 🌞
It was a big step to be so in the camera!! But we went for it. I’m excited, too. And I’m glad it is being received as meaningful work. This really makes me happy because for us the collective is so important. ❤️ You and I spoke to this a long time back and I know you feel similarly. Please join us as much as you can, dear Mahdi. 🌞
